Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen

    From The Fashion Codex

Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen (born ) is a Danish fashion designer and the creative director of the Danish fashion brand, Han Kjøbenhavn.

    Early Life

Jannik grew up in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. He has always been an admirer of art, design, and abstraction, which made it natural for him to pursue work in a creative field.[1]

Jannik has a background in graphic design, he previously worked as a creative director at an advertising agency.[1]

    Career

Jannik and hisformer partner, Tim Faith Hancock, met at a football game and quickly became friends. Tim, at the time, was in the fashion industry and they loosely spoke about creating something together. In 2008, they decided to create Han Kjøbenhavn together.[2]

They initially focused on eyewear expanded and started producing garments after two seasons.[3]

The pair still kept their regular jobs on the side for about 4-5 years.[4]

Jannik does not possess a background in fashion design, he states that the background in graphic design and his use of creativity has made it possible for him to pursue a career in fashion design.[5]

    Style

    Techniques

The Techniques sub-section should include a specific and analytical summary of a person's recurring techniques, as demonstrated and well-cited from their body of work.

    Themes

Jannik's work has a very avant-garde touch, which he backs up in an interview with Office Magazine: Let’s just say avant-garde streetwear. But I think we’re a little bit more abstract than streetwear—we drag stuff out so it moves away from the classical perception of what you’d expect from it.".

Another recurring theme is Jannik's look on "weirdos" and "misfits". Challenging the norms of society, he states:

"What’s a weirdo? What’s a misfit? I mean, I think what I do is embrace everybody. We talk about flaws and imperfection — but again, what are flaws and imperfections?"

He does not like labelling people with these words, and thats why he believes it's important to create a true connection with the wearer and the garment, merging the two and becoming one.[6]

    Collections

The Collections section should include a wikitable in the style below. If a person has not contributed to collections, editors may forgo the inclusion of a Collections section. If a person has designed or worked for more than one brand, additional wikitables should be created and arranged vertically from earliest to latest. Columns for Notes may include notable information such as the collection number.
